Erasing old and unused files from the hard drive is very important as it takes a lot of hard disk space and creates a lot of problems in the hard drive. Your hard drive may also crash due to obsolete files. The removal process is quite simple. First thing to do is go the folder 'Program Files' and remove the files of the applications that you have uninstalled long time back.
Next thing to do is to clean up the hard drive by opening 'My Computer' and right clicking on each of the drives and going to 'Properties'. In that you will see the option to clean the disk and all the old and unwanted files will get deleted from your computer.
You can also remove the files which you do not use any more such as music files, images, videos, applications etc. as they may take quite a lot of space.
