Why Do Computer Games Crash?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

When computer games crash the likely reason is that the game's producers have overlooked a bug during the game's creation. This is also the case with glitches, which is not when the game crashes but when part of an object on the screen flickers or a character gets stuck and cannot move.

Another reason why computer games may crash could be that your games console has an internal error which needs to be fixed in order not to cause further damage. Quite often, when an error occurs on a game, a screen will come up telling you to refer to your instruction booklet for further details (this happens with the Nintendo Gamecube). Alternatively, you may have purchased a faulty game.

PC games tend to crash a lot, which may be due to low speed, too many programs running or simply because the PC on which you are playing the game isn't compatible with it. Some games may require DirectX, which you may be able to install with the game. If it isn't provided with the game, however, then it is likely that your game won't run properly.
