How Did The Ancient People Make The Colours?

    It is very common thing that the colours exist in the ancient times. It is strange that how did they make the colours. Or where from they got the colours? In the ancient time people also make colours. They also paint with colours. They got green color from plants and red colour from bricks or stones. They do painting while the paper was not invented. They paint on the walls, trees and leaves. After some time they got the techniques to make and preserve the colours. Mostly bright colours used in the paintings. The colours which used in the paintings are black, red, yellow and golden. There are many hard way to make colours. Some colours brought from other countries in powder form. Some colours obtained from grinding the stones and bricks.

    In those days, there were not so many types, contrast and combinations of colours. There was only basic and some other colours. Today we have hundreds of colours and colour combinations but it was not possible in the past. Now we have plenty of colours. We have different types of colours like fabric colours, oil colours, water colour or pastel colors.

    Royal purple came from a shellfish that were plentiful in the Phoenician Empire near a city called Thyree. Sandstone and iron provided the warm hues, along with bark. boiled leaves, and a spice called Saffron makes shades of yellow, Saffron was a rare commodity and very expensive, many people season their rice with it. to name just a few sources of pigment and color.
