Yes it is common that many cats, which are mix breeds, are deaf. There are low chances of deafness in cats, which have yellow eyes, but still there are many cases like this, which are deaf. Mostly white cats with yellow eyes suffer from deafness in the ratio of ten to twenty percent in total population.
