    The only country that Scotland shares its border with is England to its south. This border is around sixty miles or ninety six kilometres long. The border runs between the Solway Firth in the west and the River tweed in the east. Scotland's border was demarcated years ago by the Treaty of York signed in 1237.

    Scotland lies to the north of England. It covers an area of seventy eight thousand seven hundred and seventy two kilometres. It has a population of around five million ninety four thousand and eight hundred. The capital city of Scotland is Edinburgh. Scotland is part of the United Kingdom and enjoys certain limited form of self-government. The head of state of Scotland id still the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
