The Italian Fascist Regime, German Empire and the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarians fought against the Allies during the world war I. The were proclaimed to have been the axis of evil around that time. The axis were maligned and their regimes presented as 'demagogues' against the allied forces which supposedly represented ideals and notions of freedom, liberty and moderation. The war left the world deeply scarred and left most of the people in shock as a conflict at this scale had been unprecedented in human history.

Italy fought FOR the Allies in the First World War, against the Allies in WORLD WAR II

The Axis of Evil was George Bush's name for Itaq, Iran, Korea, etc. Germany, Italy and Japan were known as The Axis, no adjective. While the Kaiser was blamed for WWI, the demagogues, Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito were denounced for their totalitarian regimes.

Still looking for the correct answer to the colllective name for Germany, Austria and the Ottoman Empire in the FIRST WORLD WAR.
