Catholics and Protestants are the two branches of Christianity. Jesus was the roots, then St Peter and Paul, then Constantine and the Holy Roman Empire developed into todays' Catholic (and Orthodox) churches. However, a group started protesting against the Pope and Catholic ways (seeing them as anti-Biblical) and split into a new branch called Protestants (aided by Henry VIII establishing the Church of England). Other mini braches of this one include Methodists, Baptists etc.

I can see that Ill start controversy over this answer but hey, God is the source not myself. Catholic faith was not started by the Apostles of Christ or even mentioned in the Word of God. It started in Rome by men who wanted power and control of something that was influential. When did Christ designate 1 man to control all "religious" affairs or have 1 man stand in His place here on earth? Protestants may not have been too much diff from your true saint, but they knew that it was blasphemous what the Roman Catholic Church was doing. The Grand Vicar of Jesus Christ? Who is like Jesus? The word vicar means in place of. The Grand "in place of" Jesus? Wow. As far as religion, they uphold all the religiousness you want. At least I can say that there have been some discrepancies in the CHURCH body over the years, like the handling of money, bad attitudes. Read up on Judas Iscariot, there's at least one sliding around. But the Catholic "religion" has had its share of problems, like molestation of boys. Never ONCE did you hear of that in God's Word. Why? B/c everything that we true Christians, go thru is mentioned in the Old and New Testament. In Christianity we are told specifics: Preach, teach, heal, love and compel, as well as obey ALL of His commands. The Catholic "religion" conforms around the ways of the world, nullifying in a sense some of His commands.

So to answer your question, NO. What I mean by conforming is that Catholics think its ok to still indulge in revelry. Look it up. We are permitted to drink wine, but not drink to drunkeness. Big diff. They also believe that by good works that we are able to obtain righteousness, but then that would eliminate Jesus. Righteousness comes by faith, and faith through Jesus. Mass is structured in ritualistic style, not Holy Spirit worship. There are many diff. Between the Church and Catholic religion

You see how many "branches" she began to mention?(1 Cor 12) There are many parts but one body. There are apostles, prophets, teachers, gift of miracle workers/gift of healing, administration and speaking in tongues. I dont know any Catholic prophets or any Catholic tongue speaking people. How did the Church start cutting and disecting its own body? We are all SUPPOSED to be from the same believing body, not diff ideas of how to believe. Jesus said NO man can come to God but by me. ONE WAY>
