Marginal revenue is the revenue earned by a company on the production of an extra additional unit. It can be also defined as a change in total revenue/change in number of units sold.It can also be referred as a  change in total revenue over the change in quantity.  Marginal revenue can be calculated by taking the derivative of the total revenue = (Price Demanded) times (Quantity). It is very important for a company because it gives an idea to the company about the number of units which the company can produce to get the maximum revenue.
