What Does It Mean When Our Car Bangs Into Drive From Park Or Reverse?

I am new to blurtit.

    Sounds like a universal joint. Is the sound coming from underneath the rear of the car or the front?  Could be Rear U-joint or front one. Maybe both need replacing . Less likely but could be a transmission problem.

      This is most definitely a problem with the linkage in your granny. Over time, the space between gears in the linkage gets worn down, or you need some tranny fluid.
