Can You Finger Foods For A Wedding Reception?

Answer Question

In the part of the country where I live, it is done quite regularly...and eloquently! Here in the south, especially Texas, ANY food at a wedding is acceptable. I have been to very few weddings that were sit-down dinners, and they were mostly big city weddings.  You should do whatever your budget allows and make it the most wonderful day of your life! Don't let a couple of 'bridezillas' dictate what YOU do for your wedding. I have even been to receptions that only served cake and punch. If there's food at ALL, it's a plus.  All finger foods are not messy. Lots of things 'on a stick' are fun like cheese and meat kabobs, veggie kabobs, finger sandwiches, mini cresaunts filled with chicken salad, tuna salad, even pimento cheese!!! Just stay away from chips and dip although dips for fruits, vegetables, and crackers are OK.  Trays of cheese and meats with various delicate crackers. The sky is the limit. But if you plan to have it catered, don't expect 'finger foods' to be inexpensive. It could cost upward of $15 to $18 per person with only the simplest of foods so that a small 100 person wedding (including attendants) could cost you close to $2,000.  If you are on a tight budget and have family members who can be trusted, there are tons of 'Finger Food' recipes on various wedding websites. Just make sure that the friends and/or relatives are trustworthy. You wouldn't, like Loveme above, want FOOD to make a DISASTER out of your special day. Good luck and Congrats!!!!

Sounds kind of silly to me. Wasn't the wedding ceremony already over? Were you planning to use your dress again for something else? I encouraged my girls to have a BALL and not worry a shread about getting that gown dirty. It had served its purpose and besides, a little white chalk will cover a spot instantly on a white gown so the pictures turn out great! Sorry that you felt that ANYTHING, on what was supposed to be the best day of your life, was a DISASTER..let alone the food. SAD...

If you live in a country like India where it is acceptable of course, but in this country it usually isn't done, would you like to have finger food dripping on your wedding clothes.  It's difficult to stay neat and clean with finger food, not recommended.
