Calcium was discovered in 1808 by Sir Humphry Davy in England. The origin of the name is from a Latin word "Calx" that means "lime". It was even known in the very first century and at that time Ancient Romans used it for the preparation of calcium oxide. However, it was isolated and discovered by Sir Humphry Davy. It was separated by the process of electrolysis.
