How Can I Find My Laptop Wireless Card?

My daughter's Acer laptop's router stopped working one day. I tried everything to make it work. Somebody suggested it might be the wireless card, but I have no idea where it is. Can anyone help me determine if it's the wireless card, where to find the wireless card, or if it's the router? When I hook up the router, my cable modem stops working but the laptop works. Please help

On a laptop there usually isn't a separate wireless card, to save weight and space they put the chips on the motherboard.  Try reloading from the Acer reinstall CD and if that doesn't work check their web site to find an authorized repair center.  You really don't want to take one of these apart, it is worse than working on a watch.

It depends on brand, but some have a mini pci card located under a small panel on the bottom of the computer. Usually held in place by a tiny screw. Check out www.eserviceinfo.com. Service manuals for many electronic devices including laptops are available here.
