Who Made The First Car And When?

Answer Question

The first horseless carriage, as they were called, were steam powered. In 1769, Frenchman Cugnot designed the first practical steam carriage but the boiler was too small to raise enough steam and the carriage had to stop repeatedly for water.

The early car designers then turned to gas as a source of powering their vehicles. Etienne Lenoir, another Frenchman, made an engine in which an electric spark jumped across a cylinder and ignited gas, but this was just as expensive as steam and didn't really catch on.

The Austrian Siegfried Marcus is credited sometimes as the maker of an early motor car, when he build a gas powered engine and fitted it to a four wheeled handcart in 1875. In 1885, an Englishman Edward  Butler, ran a petrol drive tricycle, but the first real motor cars were made independently by two German engineers, Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler. Their names are now immortalised as types of modern car.

It is difficult to decide exactly who built the first petrol-driven car.
Gottlieb Daimler, a German, built his first petrol-driven motor-car in1887; in the same year, two Frenchmen patented a clutch and gearbox which were basically the same as those fitted, to the majority of English cars today. Nowadays, of course, some English cars have automatic transmission, though this modern feature is more popular in American cars. The first great English pioneer in the development of the car was F. W. Lanchester, who produced his first car in 1895. Two "modern" innovations incorporated in his car were pneumatic tyres and wire wheels. Development from this date on was rapid.

At first it was difficult to raise the interest of possible investors in the manufacture of cars. One young American inventor, Henry Ford, designed a car to be sold at a popular price. Motoring in its early days was the privilege of the wealthy, and Ford's experiment proved successful.. This led to the foundation of the world's largest car factory, the Ford plant, which proceeded to make comparatively cheap, reliable ears available 10 people all over the world. Henry Ford taught the motor industry is two principles of standardization and mass production.

So you want to know who made the first car? Well I can't tell you. Just kidding. The truth is that i don't know. Just kidding again. Ford is credited with making the first car but this other guy that i can't remember the name of actually made the first car. His car was interesting because it was similar  to a carriage moved by horses, and it had three wheels similar to wagon wheels. So if you want to know who made the first car there you go. I take back the wagon wheel similarity the wheels were actually similar to bike wheels. Hope you enjoyed the answer
