What Are The Particular Attributes Of The Stratosphere?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

All in all there are three layers surrounding the Earth.  Besides the layer of atmosphere, which is a commonly known layer, the earth has two other layers surrounding its entirety.  The first one is known as troposphere, which is six to seven miles high.  The second layer is called stratosphere, which, in contrast to the relatively smaller altitude of the troposphere is immensely enormous with a height of around fifty to sixty miles.

As compared to the atmosphere, the stratosphere has a very thin density of air.  At the very bottom of the stratosphere, the density is a third of the normal atmospheric pressure and at the very top of it, the density is as less as about a one-hundred thousandth time as that of the normal air pressure.  Nevertheless the lower half of the stratosphere is notorious for its belligerent winds, which blow at somewhat around 50 to 100 miles per hour, varying in accordance with the changing of seasons.  The upper part of the stratosphere is relatively hotter as compared to the bottom region because of its extreme proximity with the sun.
