What Is The General Scenario In The Public Sector Of Italy?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Generally speaking, the condition of Italy's public sector is crass to the very core, being one of those nations where the public's confidence in the state sector is very low.  In Europe, Italy has one of the lowest levels of public confidence in the state sector.  In the stretch of the last five years, public wages have increased by almost 15 percent more than the private sectors, the increase having virtually no direct link to productivity or any conventionally relevant factor.

However most recently, strategies are being developed to introduce reforms in the public sector to ameliorate the situation and restore the trust of the common man in the public state of affairs.  These reforms would include promotion on merit rather than the length of service, increased and more accountability about factors like productivity, service and appraisal.

Romano Prodi's government is definitely looking more hopeful about introducing reforms in the public sector, expecting for the situation to change for the better and for good.
