Answer Question

The two players to lay their last game for Liverpool in the nineteen seventy six, seventy seven european cup final were Tommy Smith and Kevin Keegan.

Smith was supposed to have played his last career game after the reds beat Borrusia Moenchengladbach of Germany three one in the final, but spurred on by European success he moved to Welsh side Swansea City and played on for a final season.

Keegan had announced his departure from Liverpool prior to the European cup final, although this didn't detract from his man of the match performance in the game, where he led German internaitonal Berti Vogts a merry dance all over the olympic staduim in Rome.  Keegan gave him such a torrid time the German upended Keegan in the penalty area seven minutes from time, allowing Phil Neal to make the game safe from the spot, which he duly did, giving Liverpool their first ever European cup win.
