What Do You Need To Be Able To Have A Hair Transplant?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In order to have a hair transplant to cover areas of balding scalp on the top of the head and / or at the front of the head, you must have some healthy hair growing at the back and at the sides.

These areas of healthy hair are used as donors to replace the hair that is missing. If you have very little hair at all, the surgeon has nowhere to obtain the hair for transplant, and redistributing only a little will not produce a very successful effect.

There are various transplant techniques - punch grafts, mini-grafts, micro-grafts, slit grafts, and strip grafts. These are most suitable for men whose baldness is not that bad.  Using flaps, tissue-expansion and scalp-reduction is usually reserved for men who need much more extensive hair reconstruction. The procedures are surgical in nature, and they can cause problems. There are no guarantees that the full head of hair can be restored.
