How Does The Music Industry Operate?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The music industry refers to the industry that is responsible for creating, performing, promoting, selling and preserving music. It is composed of many different elements including the musicians, the Unions, songwriters and composers, publishers, music ensembles etc. The music industry is thus concerned with every single aspect of music right from when a song or album is composed to preserving the finished product.

The music industry is a complicated business. Usually an unsigned artist like a singer auditions for different record labels. Whether they are accepted or not depends on their talent. After a record label signs them they then focus on making an album. The record company will then assist them every step of the way. They will then record their album; maybe make a music video for some select songs. Then the record company will release their album and their put their album on sale. The more albums an artist sells the greater his/her popularity.
