Did Leaking Oil Damage Catalytic Converter?

After a recent service, the oil cap was left off on my Toyota corolla. The oil spurted everywhere. During this time a fault light came on. They have steam cleaned the engine and replaced the oil, but what i need to know is - would the leaking oil have damaged the catalytic converter?

    No.

The cat converter sits inline in your exhaust system as a closed unit and shouldn't have been exposed to it, and even if it was all you'd have is a dirty cat converter case.
