Now a days this type of questions are araising in the minds of young peopels. If one wants to be financially independent, he needs to think more and positive about living below in its income level. Initially it doesn't matter how much or how little you are earning money, which is the first step to being independent. One has to put hardships and sacrifices at first step and to find ways for his better life.

At this very first step one has to made a clear crystal like hard to achieve goals, what he wants really and then to strive for it. Every person defines success in his own words and has a different idea about it. Some people's measures success by the amount of his possessions and money, property, land buildings etc. while other counts it in terms of happy life, high status and some by powers etc.

On the other side there are some peoples which are living happily on the items they posses and they really accomplish, other are other defines success by their happy life and the possessions of one whom they love the most. Successful in terms of money and property is mostly seems to be the ultimate thing and goals of the peoples but they pay high cost for it i.e. hard working.

As soozy stated above, living within your means is one of the main factors.  It is unfortunate that many people, old and young, feel they have to compete with others, a "keep-up-with-the-joneses" attitutide.  A lot of people feel they are entitled to the new, jazzy vehicle or the new, expensive house and so they go into debt (like everyone else does) to have these things.  So, number 1 I would say:  Live within your means.

#2  Do not use a charge card without thinking about the debt you are accruing AND make sure that you are able to pay off the credit card debt EACH month in FULL.  So, number 2 would be:
      Stay out of debt.

By doing the two things above you will find that you won't have any debt to worry about and you'll always be able to sleep at night with no worries.

My husband and I have practised the above most of our lives and we are now retired and living just as well, if not better, than when he was working!  We can now buy an expensive, jazzy car if we want one, or move into the grand new house if we wanted to but I'd rather have the cabin at the lake, all paid for wouldn't you?
