Karwar is the capital of Uttara kanada district in Karnataka, India. It is positioned on the western coast of India on the banks of River Kali. Karwar is known for its picturesque beach resorts dotted with lush palm trees but has not yet been developed into a tourist spot because of lack of proper initiative by the government.
It is just 518 km away from Bangalore, extending to an area of 10291 sq. km with a total population of about 51,000. The beautiful town of Karwar is worth viewing for its lush green valleys, hills and places like the Devabag beach, Kurumgad Island, Kodasall Binaga beach, etc. The pleasant climate very similar to that of Goa is extremely enchanting. Karwar is an important port of southern Bombay and is used throughout the year for various purposes. It serves as a naval base to the Indian Navy and is also a site for nuclear reactor called Kaiga.
