What Equipment Do I Need To Be A Writer?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is not much equipment that you need to be a writer, but the basics include:

Lined paper - a large pad of lined paper will be fine, but you may want to buy more than one in case you have lots of ideas!

Good quality pen - a good quality pen is useful. Ones that run out quickly are just annoying!

A desk - if you write mainly at home, then you will need a desk.

A word processor - you will need one of these to type up your manuscripts.

If you have some money to spare, then you may want to convert one of the rooms in your house into a study, where you can do your writing. Fill the study with the basic equipment, and you might want to purchase a few folders to store your notes in.

Also, it may be useful to have an internet connection. It isn't essential, but it may help you with research. If you don't have the internet then some good reference books would be useful, particularly if you are writing a novel based on a real-life event.
