    Commercial banks are financial intermediaries and it raises its funds by receiving deposits from individuals as well as businesses. It offers three types of deposits, saving account, time deposits and checkable deposits. It also extends loans to individuals and businesses. Some of the functions of commercial banks include buying and selling government and corporate bonds, issuing drafts, provide financial services like line of credit, underwriting securities, safekeeping of important items in deposit boxes or lockers.
