Perhaps, you should make sure it is "fixed" and declawed. Clean it regularly. Also, make sure it has had all of its shots, and has seen a vet to establish a vet/pet relationship. Once all of that is done, if it isn't already, then they shouldn't have a problem. Unless, of course, somebody has allergies to cats. Then you will have a problem. My mother is one of those women who have white furniture and expensive china, etc..., and she let me have a kitten when I was younger. You also might take into consideration that they might have had a bad experience with a cat when they were younger, or that they just want to be mean about it. I can't say either way, as I don't know them, but I felt it necessary to list all possibilities to help you. Any other reason is beyond me.

It is not necessary to dewclaw a cat. Most people don't know that it is like cutting off your own finger. You need to explain how dangerous it is for cats to be outside. They can contact diseases or be ran over by a car. You need to talk to your parents

If you value your furniture, then it IS necessary to declaw your cat. If you declaw them when they are kittens, then it isn't a problem for them. It can have psychological damage if you wait until they are older, and more used to having thier claws.

Everyone has given good suggestions and advice. Just come right out and ask your parents again, saying that you know bringing a cat indoors takes a lot of responsibility. Tell them you will make sure to have a litter box and that you will always keep it clean. Additionally, cats have fleas...you will need a flea and tick protectant. You will need to ask your parents if they can help you with Advantage or Frontline. A flea collar doesn't always do the trick. If they disagree, you will need to respect their wishes...it is their house. You can keep your outdoor kitty warm with something as simple as a cardboard box lined with newspaper and an old sweatshirt or blanket....seal up a box and cut a hole in it for easy access. Good Luck.
