How To Install Windows Server 2008 On Windows XP Using A Virtual Machine?

I would like to install MS Server 2008 on my MS Windows XP computer by means of virtualization. Basically I want to create an VM instance under XP, install the server and use it as a "sandbox" for testing. Has anyone done this? If so, what VM software did you use? Many thanks for your answers in advance!
