Poison ivy can also be killed by herbicides. Herbicides should be mixed with water and put it in a tank sprayer. Heavily spray the herbicide on the plant. Herbicides are easily available at stores who sell garden products. You can also kill the plant by smothering it and placing newspapers, mulch or other products to cover it.

Also salt the roots for they can go dormant for years, and then come back!
