In What Unit Is The Electrical Power Measured In?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Power is measured in Watts. There are 3 power formulas and they are all based on two equations. EMF (electromotive force) E=IR where I =current and R= resistance. The second equation is as simple as P=IE where P= power measured in watts. E is measured in volts and I is measured in Amps. P=IE is called the Power formula. The other equation is P=I^2 R and is called the Heat Loss formula because it shows how much current is needed to produce a large amount of power. The third equation is P=E^2/R and is called the Resistance Loss formula because it shows how much voltage is needed to produce power at a given resistance to the circuit. The last 2 equations are derived from E=IR and substituting into the Power formula.
