I Have A 10 Week Old Lab/pit Mix, And My Husband Accidentally Stepped On Her Leg When Playing With Her, She Won't Walk On It, And It Feels Different Then The Other Leg, What Do I Do?

Her back leg seems kind of flimsy, she will stretch it out, but won't walk on it. It does hurt her to touch it. Should I wait one day to take her to the vet? Is there a vet I can take her to that will allow me to make payments on the medical bill, I don't want to have to sign her over.

If there is an irregularity and the bone doesn't feel smooth, and there is pain ,swelling and discolouration with loss of movement then it is a fracture. It may need to be reduced and reset and this can only be done by an expert and with the aid of an x ray. It may not need surgery but if not set properly it can lead to a situation which could cause the animal a lot of pain and even loss of the leg. The problem with waiting is that, the delay can make the bone harder to set. Cold compresses may help to keep the swelling down ,but a splint will prevent further damage.

I suggest you to take it to vet as soon as possible. Its bone can be fractured or broken that can be confirmed only by taking its X-rays. If you will not take it to vet immediately but will wait instead then it will start healing in a wrong direction which cause a long lasting pain to your pet even after complete recovery of fractured bone.
