Which Singer Married Kris Kristofferson In 1973?

The beautiful Rita Coolidge was married to Kris Kristofferson. Cooldige's singing career started when she worked as a backing singer for artists such as Joe Cocker and Eric Clapton and she become known as The Delta Lady, which inspired Leon Russell to write a song of the same name for her. During her early singing career she met and married Kris Kristofferson in 1973 and she recorded several duet albums which sold well and earned them a Grammy Award for the Best Country performance by a duo in 1974.
Rita also had several solo hit singles during the late 1970's with cover versions. Her first hit, Your Love Has Lifted Me Higher and Higher, was a cover of the Jackie Wilson song and was also her best selling single, reaching number two in the US charts in 1977.
Rita continued to have success with her singing career and in 1983 she had the hit with All Time High for the James Bond film Octopussy. She also secured the hit Love Came For Me from the movie Splash.
Unfortunately Rita's marriage to Kris was not meant to be and they divorced in 1980.
