    The boroughs of London are the most important component of the local government. The boroughs are managed by the 'London Borough Council'. These boroughs were first established on 1st April 1965. The election for the 'London Borough Council' take place every four years. Previously known as the "shadows", the first elections for the 'London Borough Council' took place in the year 1964.
