While operating in an industry, an organization has to always keep looking for opportunities and threats. An intelligent business person would always avail every single opportunity and overcome every threat at the earliest possible convenience. Nevertheless facing the threats is somewhat inevitable for every single enterprise operating in every single industry. Speaking of threats, the most perilous and challenging of threats are the competitive forces who are striving for the same thing that the organization is.

There are five forces of competition in any and every industry for any and every enterprise. The first one is the rivalry among the competing sellers existing in the respective industry. The second one is the potential of entry of new competitors who have yet not entered the market. The third force of competition are companies operating in other industries who are trying to lure the customers of the respective industry to substitute products. The fourth force is the competitive pressure coming from the supplier-seller collaboration and the level of bargaining. The last force is the competitive pressure arising from the seller-buyer collaboration, which is even more perilous than the previous one.
