The capital of the Bahamas is New Providence, the main city is Nassau.  The largest island in the Bahamas is Andros Island which is less than half an hour by plane, away from Nassau.

Nassau is rich in history. It was founded by the British and named after William III of Orange-Nassau in 1695 and was a popular stopping ground and hide-out for pirates, including Blackbeard.
