The Sachsenring is situated in Hohenstein-Ernstthal in Chemnitz, Saxony. It lies in the eastern part of Germany. It is a racing circuit in Germany; the Sachsenring in German also stands for the Saxony Ring. The events held at the Sachsenring include the German motorcycle Grand Prix of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing. This event is held with respect to the Street Motorbike World Championship.
The first race at the Sachsenring was held on the 26th of May in the year 1927. It was held on a public road which stretched up to 8.7 kilometres. The road stretched in to the village of Hohenstein-Ernstthal. The track was titled as the Sachsenring only in the year 1937. From the year 1962 to the year 1971 the East German motorcycle Grand Prix was held in the Sachsenring.
