How Do You Tell If Your Phone Is Tapped?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Amateurs who want to tap your phone may leave some cues. You may hear a click in the phone every time you take the call. If you hear the echo of your voice, you can be sure that your phone is tapped. With modern technology, it is not easy to find because phone tapping instruments are designed to tap data transmission from your cellphone or landline phone without interruption. You can have your telephone line checked with the help of a time domain reflectometer. You can also open up your phone box and have a look.

Check for the phone lines; look for them from the wall to the phone. There can be recorders installed anywhere in your home or office but they will be attached to your phone line. If you believe that your phone is tapped, contact a TSCM (technical surveillance countermeasures) specialist.  However do not call him from the supposedly 'tapped' phone or any other phone linked to your home or office.
