How Do Food Is Produced In Those Plants Which Do Not Contain Green Leaves?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It's a common misconception that any leaves which aren't green must not contain chlorophyll. This is false. There are several types of chlorophyll. The one in green leaves is admittedly the most common, and absorbs red and blue light, hence the green color. However, there are also chlorophylls which appear pink, red, purple, and orange (meaning that the leaves containing them appear these colors as well) due to the fact that they absorb different wavelengths of light. These types still produce sugar just as well as the green chlorophyll, and use the same process.
