The parliament building of Northern Ireland is NOT known as Stormont. Colloquially the word "Stormont" has become associate with the parliament buildings however the big white house on the hill is actually just called "Parliament Buildings". Not very imaginative

There are a few places in Belfast that can be attributed with the name of Stormont. A suburb of Belfast has its name Stormont and also a castle situated in that very area. The parliament building of the Northern Ireland too is known as Stormont as well as the government building in the area.

Stormont Castle is a magnificent mansion located in the east of Belfast and has served as the official residence of the Prime Minister of Ireland during 1921-1972. Simultaneously, it served as the room of the Government of Northern Ireland during the era. Since the year 1973, the castle is serving as the headquarters of the Secretary of State of Northern Ireland in Belfast. It also has offices of Northern Ireland Office Ministers and other supporting officials.
