Loosen the tension pulley on a 1997 Honda accord?

    Please give more information. Do you want to fix a broken pulley tensioner or do you want to fix a loose or stuck  tension pulley

    I'm trying to loosen it so i can bring it down so i can put a belt on it

    the tension and pulley should not be loose. the pulley should spin freely.the tensioner should be under tension by the spring on the arm, to get the belt off you use either a wrench or ratchet to release the tension on the arm enough to remove the belt off the pulley allowing you to take the belt off the rest of the way. make sure the battery is disconnected before start. here is a site showing a video of the process for removing a serpentine belt. www.expertvillage.com/video/13376_alternator-remove-serpentine-belt.ht

      1997 Accord doesn't have a tensioner pulley. The accessories are on brackets and they need to be moved on the brackets to lower the tension.
