Will The Food Color Harm The Birds?

It is not necessary to put food coloring in feeders. That is why the feeders have some red coloring on them. Food coloring is not good for the hummingbirds. I just use a clear mixture of sugar and water, and they love it. Why use it if you don't have to. And never use honey. It causes a mold to grow on the hummingbirds beak, and is eventually fatal to them. Hope I've helped.

Do you mean red food coloring in a hummingbird feeder? If this is what you mean, no, the trace amount of food color in the sugar water solution isn't enough to do harm to them.

Humming birds are small but guzzle massive amounts of honey they eat their weight every day so my advice to you is to stop food coloring the food bec. It will result in kidney and liver failure. Even pet birds are only given coloring before a moult but not on a daily bases.
