Leif Erikson (also spelled Ericsson, or Eiriksson) was the second of three sons of Erik the Red, who established a settlement in Greenland after he was exiled from Iceland.
Leif Erikson was the first European to set foot in the New World, opening a new land rich with resources for the Vikings to explore. He is credited with discovering America.
Leif Erikson's story was recorded in several different sagas, but the accounts they give are so different it is impossible to be certain of the details of his life. Leif was born in Iceland in about 960 AD and is thought to have died in about 1020 AD.

Leif Erickson was a well know American actor born on October 27th, 1911 and expired on January 29th, 1986.
He was born with the name William Anderson in Alameda, California, he acted in a number of films like College Holiday, Conquest, Ride a Crooked Mile, Sorry, Wrong Number, The Snake Pit, Fourteen Hours, Invaders from Mars, On the Waterfront, Twilight for the Gods, A Gathering of Eagles, etc. He married actress Frances Farmer in the year 1936 and was with her till the year 1942.
Later on he got married to actress Margaret Hayes on the day when he received divorce from his ex-wife farmer, but his second marriage lasted only for a month. He later on expired from cancer in Pensacola, in Florida.
