Why Is Coffee Roasted?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The process of roasting is vital in order to produce an aromatic and flavourful cup of coffee. During this process, the green coffee expands, due to which its thickness increases. With the heat being absorbed into the beans its colour shifts drastically from yellow to cinnamon brown and subsequently to oily dark brown colour. If the roasting process is lighter, the beans show signs of its original flavour. If the beans are roasted further, it exhibits a very roast flavor.

However, coffee is sold in every style to it consumers, depending on the taste of every customer. Some of the best selling roast coffee are Light Cinnamon roast, Vienna Roast, French roast, to name a few. Some of the beans that are roasted lightly in order to have a dominate flavor are from renowned places like Kenya, Java, Jamaican Blue Mountain and Hawaiian Kona.
