Well, I am not sure why it is called mother earth; Can anybody answer that one?
Look at Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
I do not see how mankind is raping mother earth when we are to have dominion over it. We are not to be litter bugs but be sensible.

I am an american indian. My tribe is cherokee, my forefathers loved this land, they left it here for me,then the white man came with cities and cars and dirty factories and hurt mother nature with their greed.nature is our mother, we are sucklings at her breast, and he who trys to beat her down will lose her to the rest.

Well said, Nater35! How can anyone feel comfortable with "ruling over the fish and birds and cattle" etc. When they are the ones who have it all together. Look what ruling over them has gotten us! Humans have ruined the earth. We need to stop and learn from those that we are supposed to be ruling. Maybe they are the superior ones, they have no wars or money problems or greed, they haven't torn apart the earth with mines and clear cut forests. Why is this such a difficult concept for people?
