    The geographic area of Leinster is around nineteen thousand and seventy three square kilometres. Leinster is one of the provinces in Ireland. It is located in the south east of the country. It is further divided into the counties of Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Kilkenny, Longford, Meath, Louth, Offaly, Wexford, Westmeath and Wicklow.

    Of all the provinces in Ireland, Leinster has the greatest population of around two million three hundred thousand. One of the reasons why it is the most populated regions is that the capital Dublin is located within it boosting its population by more than a million and a half. The important towns inside Leinster are Bray, Naas, Athlone, Mullingar, Navan, Swords, Wexford, Celbridge etc. The province of Leinster gets its name from the tribe of Laigin which was the dominating tribe amongst the five that inhabited the area in ancient times.
