    The Port of Spain basically is the capital of Trinidad and Tobago. It is situated towards the Gulf of Paria, based on the northwest coast of the Island of Trinidad.

    The city chiefly plays the part of a retail and organizational hub and is said to be one of the key shipping centres of the Caribbean. Port of Spain was established close to the spot of Amerindian fishing Village of Cumucurapo. The climate of Port of Spain is mainly tropical. The monsoon season lasts from June to December, where as its dry season lasts from January to May.

    According to the census conducted in the year 2000, the total area of this region was 13.45 square kilometres. The census report of 2000 also stated that the population of this region was 49,031, having an average population density of 3,650 per square kilometre.
