Cricket is now a thing of the past within the Olympic competitions, mainly due to three key reasons:

        1. There are only about 8 cricket teams in the world which all play at the same level, which has created a very singularly competitive sport in it's own right.

        2. Playing cricket is not a fast process - it involves a lot of time and match fixtures which well over run the 2 week Olympic period.

        3. There would certainly be plenty of arguments about why different countries could not compete if there were a cricket competition in the Olympics - the fact is that most nations are pretty rubbish compared to the top 8.
