Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Geometry is derived from two words; geo means earth and metria means measure. It is a part of mathematics but it is more concerned about the size, shape and relative position of the figures. It is defined as a knowledge related to length, areas and volumes of the shapes. Euclid gave a number of basic concepts of Geometry and today, it is considered as one of the major subjects. Geometry has a very significant role in architecture and other fields of life.

Geometry is the study of shapes and configurations.
It attempts to understand and classify spaces
in various mathematical contexts. For a space with lots of symmetries,
the study naturally focuses on properties which are invariant
(remaining the same) under the symmetries.
