Am I Too Old To Start Up A New Business?

Answer Question

6 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is no ideal age for starting a business. So long as the drive and the enthusiasm are there, age should not be an issue whether you have racked up less than two decades or five.

There is, however, no doubt that it helps to have some years of practical hands-on experience in the workplace, and particularly within the sector in which you want to start a business.

Many people are well into their thirties, forties or even fifties before they take the plunge and set up on their own account. Conversely, some of the most successful companies have been started by young people fresh out of school or university.

There is no hard and fast rule. The decision is about the individual, their motivations and skills, not their age. But obviously, there are some industries where youth is on your side. The biggest questions in relation to age concern credibility, commitment and ability.

Being your own boss requires commitment and application, you will drive yourself harder than ever before. And be prepared for a roller-coaster ride in the first year of trading.

You need to consider your aims in creating a new business and the amount of time needed to make the business successful, as well as how much of a future it has. You're never too old to start, but you need to make sure you're not too old to fulfill your dream.

I am 60 years old, have never worked as I was busy raising five children. I always thought it would be a challenge, and fun to own a business of my own. So four years ago I opened up a new book store! I love it.

That store did so well that I have since added a teacher's supply store and children's clothing and toys store.

You need to have a lot of patience, and time. And you have to be someone who loves people. You have to sometimes go the extra mile for customers. But they are so much fun, and you make so many new friends.

You are never too old to go after a dream. Life is what you make it.   . . .Good luck!

Well, you can always start on something you love most or something you're passionate about and of course age doesn't matter. In that way you are assured that it will last longer since you put your mind and heart into it. Turning your passion into profit is worth trying. Next, would be is to create your own brand, which will help you draw more customers and sales.

I have to admit Branding is everything in business, in order to start a good and profitable business you need to create your own unique and creative brand or identity. The brand that you will create will boost your online and offline presence, when that happens more sales will be coming in to your business.

I've known this site http://brandmelive.com that helps and guides an individual or start-up company on how to create your own unique brand that stands out from the rest, amidst this global crisis. In less than a month, I assure you, you will start to experience great amount of success on your brand or business with the efforts you put in. Believe me, I'm one of the million that benefited from that site.

Hope that helps in some way.

You cannot say the success of the business from the age of the owners. If you broaden your knowledge and browse for information from any sources around the world, you will see that many people from age 20 to 70 have been succeeded on the business. Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC, has just started his business on age of 40. It is not age that determine the success, but it is the mindset that first need to be restored. Something that is proven can always be duplicated by other people regardless what the age is.

You can always starting small business from something that you do like, and it can be started from your hobby. I can say this because in business sometimes you will not get the amount of money you expected at the beginning, and when you do not like the work, you will tend to disregard it and leave the business. But if you like the work in the business, you will always do it with enthusiast even though the business situation is not as good as it expected, because it is your hobby. You will always do your hobby even though you are not paid for it, right? Good luck!
