How Do I Know When I've Had Enough To Eat?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

This is actually a really interesting question. Some would say that you've had enough to eat when you feel full. But there are a couple of problems here.

One is that it takes a while for your food to move through your body, so it takes longer than you think for the "full" message to arrive at your brain. People who eat slowly generally eat less because the body has time to realise what it has taken in.

The other thing is that in the more affluent areas of the world, we do not tend to know what it feels like to be really hungry. We also are prone to overeating and that "full" message is just lost. You may have to train yourself to stop eating in order to learn what is enough for your body.

We don't need three course meals - although we are capable of eating them. A balanced plate of meat and two vegetables is generally enough for anyone. If you feel your energy level drops, snack on some fruit or nuts which will give you the energy you need till your next meal.
