What Is The Difference Between A Liger And A Tigon?

They say both are the same. But I'm not really sure. How do they look like?

Ligers are made as a result of a male lion and a female tiger. They inherit certain size genes from both of their parents, which as a result makes them twice as big as either.

Tigons on the other hand are produced by a female lion and a male tiger. Their genetics makes them half of the size of both a lion and tiger. There's not much difference in appearance between them, and both are infertile which is way they aren't considered new species.

Female ligers & tigons are fertile; males are sterile. Don't know the genetics involved. Females can back-breed with either lions or tigers.

Female lion + male tiger =Tigon
male lion + female tiger = liger

As far as I know, they don't look very different from each other.

A Liger has a dad lion and a mum tiger, and a Tigon has a Tiger dad and a Lion mum

There are many differences between ligers and tigons, most notably the size and looks. Tigons are not nearly as large as Ligers. Tigons are known to be often times smaller than their counterparts.

Female Lion and a male Tiger mate And when the Lion gives birth you get a Tigon They are smaller then a Ligon, and they look more like a Tiger then a Lion, perhaps thats why they called them "Tigons"

The bad thing is since the Ligon is bigger then the mom and the dad it is very hard to give birth, so to get the baby out they have to do a caesarean section, that is like cutting up the belly to take the baby out...
Another bad thing is the Tigons and the Ligers, because of different genetics, are born Mutated (Like formed differently), or they are born with birth defects... So they might not live that long...

Ligers are larger than Tigons, and Ligers are the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger, Tigons are vice-versa. Breeding for Tigons is also harder.

Usually a liger looks more like the lion, rather than a tiger, hence why the L is first in its name. A tigon usually has more of the tiger look, hence why the T is first in its name.
