Answer Question

If your dog is more than 50 years old in dog years then it can be a side of old age.
If the dog was once in a house fire the smoke could have also done damage

A dog panting can be caused by several different things. He could have over exerted himself with exercise or play. He could be overheated. He could be in pain. He could be experiencing heart trouble. You need to look at what he has been doing recently. Then you will have a better idea of what he is panting for. Regardless, you may decide to take him to a veterinarian if you are concerned enough. Good luck.
