A dog panting can be caused by several different things. He could have over exerted himself with exercise or play. He could be overheated. He could be in pain. He could be experiencing heart trouble. You need to look at what he has been doing recently. Then you will have a better idea of what he is panting for. Regardless, you may decide to take him to a veterinarian if you are concerned enough.
