I had the same problem.. I have tried everything.. Literally. Had to check my usb ports.. It sucked and to this day my car stereo's ipod plug will bring it right up and charge it and everything but not on any computer i have ever tried.. I think its because i never registered it.... Needless to say i bought a new one and registered it right away and never had a problem.. I would try the blogs on apple and try everything you can find before getting a new one... I still support apple products.. Even though i almost pulled everyone of my hairs out...
